the moon is out of focus tonight
at least for me
and from here
but from where she is, it may be perfectly clear

time here has slowed down, like it often does just before dark

on the street, it has slowed down for the young pregnant mother,
collecting the strands of beads that separate the restaurant from the outside,
picking each additional strand one by one, changing the shape of the interior light
a light not unlike the moon’s
but clearer

and time has slowed down for the modern hairdresser outside smoking his cigarette,
watching a group of younger men walk by, about his age.
they walk past.
he stays
and finishes his cigarette,
then walks in, looks back out,
and time resumes pace

its speed may alter, but it’s forever indifferent to the possibilities
possibilities of which more and more are becoming impossible
and even more of which have been forgotten.

now, from the inside looking out
the moon feels clearer - but is in fact obstructed,
at least for me
and from here
but from where you are, it may be perfectly clear.
